Some of year 6, invited their parents to the cafe, for a meal that they had prepared.
Year 6 baked shortbread angels wings, to serve to parents visiting school to see their work with Mrs Johnston. They have been studying the Greek myth about Icarus. Were you lucky enough to buy some of their spare biscuits on the playground, at the end of the day? If so, did you enjoy them?
Year 6 have been studying the Ancient Greek myth of Pandora.
It took a lot of perseverance and determination to complete these gingerbread boxes, but we did it, with varying degrees of success! What would you have done differently?
Our 2nd ‘pay as you feel’ cafe was to raise money for Children in Need. We served pasta and mini pizzas, to a diverse and hungry clientele, followed by Sham’s Tiger cake and biscuits. It was a little chaotic but thanks go to everyone who stepped in to help out!
We raised £41.95 for Children in Need!!!
A huge thank you to my year 6 group of boys (Bailey, Brandon, Peter, Prabjeet, Cameron and Josiah) who made their Woollton Pies this afternoon. They were the quietest and most mature group that I have cooked with this year. Thank you boys, it was a pleasure to work with you😃
This term years 5/6 and 6 have been cooking Woolton Pie. This was a recipe created by The Ministry of Food during WWII. The filling contains any vegetables available, possibly home grown, and the top is potato pastry, helping to save precious fat rations. Those who have made and eaten their Woolton Pies have enjoyed them. If you haven’t cooked yours yet don’t worry. Your time will come!
Some children in year 6 have spent the afternoon baking apple and raspberry crumbles. The apples were kindly donated by Daniel’s grandma!
The crumbles will be on sale, in the playground, after school tomorrow(22.10.15).All proceeds go back into our cookery budget.
Really enjoyed my day out in Ilkley with year 6. Thank you to Miss Whitely for organising everything!
